kusee pee Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Ok, so without wishing to get into a big tat debate, I fancy getting a bassline tattoo or two, as a score in the bass clef. Trouble is finding what I want. Ideally, I'd want Duran's Last Chance On The Stairway and also Simple Minds' Colours Fly And Catherine Wheel. These, unsurprisingly, don't seem to be commonly available as scores. Any idea how i could either find them or create them in a suitable form to tattoo? Quote
PawelG Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 (edited) Find an artist who's good with lines and talk to him. Examples of exceptional line work: https://www.instagra...ekniuans/?hl=en https://www.instagram.com/krisciezlik/ https://www.instagra...ltattoos/?hl=en Yes, those artists are expensive, but I figured - tattoos are for life and only go for the best. Cat Burrito Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 I have Elvis Presley's Love Me Tender scored on my arm as part of a sleeve. I just googled it to find it. It was the first song I learned. I sat at the back of a plane coming back from New York once and this lady was staring at my arm. I was just about to tell her it was rude to stare when she said "Love Me Tender, I was just reading your arm". A very cool moment. Quote
sammybee Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Why not have a go trying to sketch it out yourself? If you can play it, you should know the notes Print out a blank bass clef sheet and start scribbling! Quote
ambient Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 If you can let me know how much of the song, I'm guessing just an excerpt? I can do it in Sibelius. Quote
Dood Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Would this be a good time to roll out the over used "When Doves Cry" witty reply? For me, I will have the opening piano bars of Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen wrote the song for the inauguration and unveiling of my birth and it stayed at number one in celebration of my arrival in the world. God (John Deacon) was looking over me.* *ok, I made that bit up. The song was at number one when I was born. Quote

PawelG Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Tattoo removal is expensive and painful (more than tattoos apparently). And if you decide to get a tattoo - in my opinion - it's for life. It will always be there and it's a reminder that at some point in your life you wanted that particular thing. From my experience - everyone has a different opinion about tattoos. Covers, blast-overs etc is a whole other world... Quote

Phil Starr Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Make sure it's right. My son works in Japan and obviously speaks Japanese. There's a trend for Western free spirits to have 'Free' tatoo'ed in Japanese. Unfortunately the tattooists aren't fluent and have branded them free, as in cheap/good value. The Japanese are of course too polite to comment, but have some fun at our expense. Quote
