ChrisJaxon Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) A lovely example of the ever-popular Yamaha 424X, in black, and with hardly a mark on it. Fitted with D'addario EXP coated nickels, it has a lovely tone and is set up with a good low action. I will surely miss it, but I am now married to my 425X so it is not being used much and needs someone to gig it! Currently fitted with LOXX strap locks, but the original strap buttons will be replaced. Otherwise it is all original, about 3 years old. Try-out and collection from South Gloucestershire. I can post if required. Let me know if you have any questions, but much has been said and lauded about this instrument in these columns. Edited July 10, 2017 by ChrisJaxon

ChrisJaxon Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 Yes it is wholly true. If I turn towards my amp up close, there is a hum. Turn away from the amp and it goes away. Not really a deal breaker!

A bit of mild hum is a small price to pay for the lovely tone these things put out. The bridge pickups in the BB424/5, 10124/5 and 2024/5 basses are some fattest sounding J pups I've come across. As a result they're actually useful in a mix when solo'd.
Truckstop Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 +1 I haven't felt the need to use anything else since I got my 424x about 5 years ago now. It's made me a one-bass man and I the only thing I think that would make me move it on would be a new one.
