Bilbo
Yes it fits. Proceed with caution, however. If you get the angle wrong, you will crack the windscreen. I did it yesterday. Fortunately, the MOT is due next month and an existing chip plus other scratches meant that a new windscreen was on the cards anyway but, for those pondering the great mystery, you CAN get a 3/4 double bass in a Smart if you are careful. Ironically, I didn't NEED to do it as I have a bigger car. I just wanted to try.
Rumple
A sunroof is always a handy feature for most musicians with larger instruments and small cars
paul_c2
Just for clarity - can you confirm which way round? The bass in the car, or the car in the bass?

bobmartin
I know someone who could get a D/B, a Sousaphone and amp in his Smart Car. https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/Yamaha_Sousaphone_YSH-411.jpg&imgrefurl=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sousaphone&h=1196&w=604&tbnid=FNVGKR_6eRY1EM:&tbnh=186&tbnw=93&usg=__uWfUYxychDbe8LwVRVKGaZ6V3YU=&vet=10ahUKEwjMspvZ7OjUAhXHYlAKHZTiAC8Q_B0IgAEwCg..i&docid=LUWYpuVf_82ucM&itg=1&client=safari&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjMspvZ7OjUAhXHYlAKHZTiAC8Q_B0IgAEwCg&ei=JPxXWcyQKsfFwQKUxYP4Ag
