JimBobTTD
As the title, really. I have had this Alanis Morissette song in my head for a while and I suggested it to the band (fully aware that the bassline is much harder than it initially seems). The singer said yes. When the guitarist reminded him that he would be asking whether "she would go down on you in a theatre" or whether a certain someone would be thinking of him when he has sexual relations with a woman, the singer suggested changing the lyrics. Has anyone done this without changing the lyrics? Did it work well with the audience? Did your singer handle it well? Dazed
Wasn't that one of the tracks Flea played on? Can't help with the lyrics sorry. Although would the average pub punter care? Excuse my assumption it'll be played in a pub
interpol52
It's a Flea classic, I've 'been inspired' by a lot of that bassline! Maybe take this approach to the lyrics? http://youtu.be/WmRTUNh1vPo
Adrenochrome
No but we (4 blokes) do a load of female vocal songs with no trouble at all, including suggestive lyrics. Our singer doesn't change many lyrics at all. I Kissed A Girl now has a strange context...
KevB
Valerie makes no lyrical sense as a female vocal but Winehouse covered it so I guess a lot folks just dont listen that closely.
Bolo
No Doubt. I'm just a girl or You're just a girl, when sung with male vocals?
