Two outstanding solos on 'Street Life', especially the Tenor solo from Wilton Felder.

Great solos. Great song.

Going for 3 - Layla (Dereck and the Dominos) - You can feel the pain in each note when Clapton lets rip.

Then One Small Day - Ultravox. Midge Ure is a VERY underated guitarist

Finally a hip hop record of sorts - Bomb the Bass - Dont Make Me Wait.

If we're talking Utravox then you've got to mention Billy Currie's keyboard solos...

Reelin in the years by Steely Dan
Outstanding guitar playing by the great Jeff Skunk Baxter.

I believe it was actually Elliot Randall

The solo on the single version of 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago is concise and flippin ace. Terry Kath was the shizz. The horns ain't too shabby either. Could only find the album length version on YouTube :(

'Don't Speak' by No Doubt. It's an amazing, heartfelt song anyway, and the beautiful solo at 2.44 by Tom Dumont is the icing on the cake.

Always loved John McGeoghs playing in the Banshees and I'm pretty certain it was the solo from Shot by both sides that grabbed peoples attention.

Couple come to mind. Both Steve Lukather (well certainly the first one and probably the second one)

Rosanna and Running with the night by Lionel Richie.

Hate to admit to knowing the personnel on a Lionel Richie track but yes, Running With The Night was Steve Lukather. Also a wicked bass part and especially tone from "Ready" Freddie Washington :)

Yes, both top solos, and yes both by the man who owns the most shirts in the world.

That was Joe Chemay on Bass Guitar. Not sure that Freddie Washington was even on the album?
Abe Laborial and Nathen East were also both on the album.
:)

Graham Coxon's stellar guitar-bothering on Blur's 'Coffee & T.V.' Lovely and lunatic in equal measure; everything a solo should be 😉
as is the solo to 'Country House'

This^^. Also, that Barry Adamson bassline is rather cool.
