anzoid
Going to try this here because if there's anyone on this planet who can answer my question I'm betting they hang out on Basschat... Cast your minds back to the early 90s. The internet wasn't a "thing" and the only way to sate your GAS was by buying magazines and oogling the basses therein... And in the UK at this time there wasn't even (as far as I know) a dedicated bass magazine - you had to buy "Guitarist" and hope they had a couple of basses and amps and stuff in there that month... As a new bass player, just getting into the world of bass I would get Guitarist as and when I could afford it with my pocket money... And I remember one issue in which appeared a bass, and it's this bass I'm hoping someone on here might be able to identify. The bass was green - a transparent green finish and the hardware was gold. I think it possibly could have been a Bass Collection SB... something. But I can find no contemporary evidence of there having been a trans-green Bass Collection in the early 90s. Might have been a Tune Bass Maniac... Was definitely a modern bass and I think it was one of a pair in the article in question. And that's all I remember, but, weirdly, it's a memory, vague as it is, that has stayed with me for coming up on 30 years... So, anyone got any ideas? Bonus points for a PDF of the original article. Would even be happy if someone said "yeah, I remember that too...". Cheers
Cato
There were definitely trans green Bass Collections. School friend of mine had one.

kodiakblair
Risky business !! The Tune Bass Maniac review dogged me for 30 odd year before I finally managed to track one down Tell you what,it was worth it
anzoid
TheGreek... that one of Happy Jack's look pretty much how I remember the one in Guitarist - not sure how I missed that when going through the BC thread. Doubt Happy Jack would sell it, but as I have an SB100 incoming I think I'll be happy paul_5 - that green one is the same shade that I remember (can you really remember colour accurately...?) though the one in the review was a 4-string (though if my memory is correct and it was a double review the other one could have been a fiver). fretmeister - not an RBX, though that's a sweet bass - and also the colour I remember kodiakblair - agree on the risky business, though TheGreek has very kindly sold me a nice SB100 in metallic purples (that's like green, right?) so I think my Bass Collection GAS is going to be sorted fairly soon. Only problem is I might have a nibble at another bass on my "lost dogs" list (though the SB100 is more on my "never had one, but did have the GAS a long time ago" list)... it's neverending. Weren't the Bass Maniac and the SB series somewhat competitors back in the 90s - I don't remember whether they were in similar price brackets back then or not. kodiakblair
anzoid I remember the Tune Maniacs first, the extended fingerboard fretless I had GAS for was £899. That was around 84/85.Well beyond my pocket so nearest I got was the Washburn ABT B-20, £299 in 88. I knew it wasn't the same but the colour was right Late 80's was first I heard of the SGC Nanyo, the Bass Centre started selling them. It seemed there was plenty competition for Tune. Washburn,Bass Collection,Kawai all had fretless models similar to the standard fretless Maniac P/J. Shameless excuse to show off the fretless Tune :-)
Yank
I seem to remember an ad for strings with a hot female bassest, Greta something or other who sported a green bass.
GBH
Seem to remember a Maison bass in green being reviewed about that time.

anzoid
Not too many photos of Maison basses around - found these: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/maison-bass-guitar-313137219 and that logo is definitely something I recognise... Looks pretty much like a BC clone.
Rich
I had a Maison 5 string. It was indeed a budget Bass Maniac clone. Nice enough bass, played and sounded well, but a definite cheapie. Save a few more pennies up and get a proper Tune. Here it is in action. I'd removed the Maison logo with T-Cut!
stingrayPete1977
I had a trans green SB320 Bass Collection, it was a great bass, probably still is whoever has it. I didn't realise that it had no fret position dots until about a year after I got it!
BassTractor
GBH - now that name rings a bell... time to hit the Googles.
Of course it rings a bell. Just don't search for its British street name then, but just spell it correctly: GHB.
Pinball
Here's my 5 string, I plan to play it at Green Gathering this year and this guy used to play one https://www.youtube....h?v=QNdiNsOlqaQ Edited July 9, 2017 by Pinball

Unlikely that it was my old green Veillette Citron but nice to look at it again. http://i.imgur.com/WcR17Xo.jpg Edited July 9, 2017 by TheGreek
