byrne182
New side project set up by Taka of Feeder fame. Thoughts? Those two black p basses look amazing.
Funny - as soon as I saw the name I genuinely thought - they'll be relic'd Fender copies. And they're relic'd Fender copies. Geek99
Not all fender clones They look alright [shrug] I don't know what he charges
buff
Shame he's not doing any copies of the basses he play's
Sibob
I asked and the black Tele bass with Thunderbird pickup (most recent pic on the Facebook group) would be circa £600. Also looks like he sources the parts used based on the requirements of the customer, so they're not all necessarily from the same place. Bassassin
They do give the impression of being created from random Ebay parts & a belt sander.
I'm not sure about that, bit cynical, I think they're being quite upfront about everything: "I’m starting my little project called “ReBirth Custom Guitars” which basically recycles forgotten & unwanted basses and guitars and brings them back to life again! I customise them myself and sometimes with some professional help as well. It’d be nice to make these left behind guitars and basses up to a decent working level. I’m not specialising in relic style. I customise and refine used guitars and basses with some characters. If you are looking for “Original” or “Real” ones!?, it is not for you. But every guitar is original with its own right to me. Most of guitars and basses here are for sale and the prices are all different which depends on how much time and money I spend on them." Obviously he's a bassist and just a bit of an enthusiast, people have an idea, perhaps don't have a massive budget, talk to someone like Taka, make it happen. Bassassin
Sales patter's sales patter - but I'm sure most people on BC appreciate that "forgotten" and "unwanted" basses & guitars are typically the ones that are, well, a bit rubbish. And I doubt what he's selling is actually recycled throwaway junk - at least I hope not. I may be being a bit cynical but I went through all the pics on the FB page - when I encountered the relic'd Strat fitted with Teisco gold foil pickups, I cringed so hard I nearly blacked out. In its way it's a bit like that deranged Ebay experiment artist who causes so much combined amusement & dismay in the Weird & Wonderful thread. buff
I think he worked for a guitar builder in japan pre Feeder called combat guitars. Edited July 10, 2017 by buff
Sibob
I think it's a case that he likes doing it, and some people buy them....good luck to him Si
MrTommyGrowls
I love mine! Taka is a good guy, everything turned out as I wanted it to and I could not be happier! I'd order another one if I wasn't broke as f*ck right now! His "Bass IV" are tempting (bass VI shaped Longscale 4stringers)
BassApprentice
I saw a couple of three for sale recently, around about the £500 second hand but how much are they new? No prices on the Facebook page and I am very much tire kicking at this point 😂
