Yes, he is great. I have seen his videos before.
He grooves well and his soloing is very 'Horn' like and fluid.

Nah, don't give up and sell your Basses, just practise more. :D

Found myself enjoying this despite all the slightly formula-ridden widdlery going on.

Big bad bassopotamus he may be, but the guy IS musical, unlike 99% of the ass-showing widdlers.
Bet he is interesting on guitar, too.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't put him in the "widdler" category. Like you say, he's too musical for that. It's basically bebop played on bass. And yes, he is a great guitarist as well, I think it's actually his first instrument, which makes me want to sell up even more!

Yes, his Guitar playing on a few of the well known standards is lovely.
He is just a superb musician, full stop.

Once you go to his YouTube page, you can end up being stranded there for ages having a listen... :D

Oh yes, this is fabulous stuff. Beautifully melodic. If I could play like that, I'd scrap my self-imposed 'no soloing' rule.

[/quote]...but you wouldnt get many gigs playing just like that, would you? Always amused me that Stanley Clark had to have a bass player in his band.

Are you talking about an additional Bassist, or just him ? :D

Not that many live gigs on the Tube with two Bassists
Eleven Bassists, no problem.
