Has anyone tried one of these?

http://bassdirect.co...Ass_straps.html

I'm after the most padded strap I can get (within reason). Already have a Mono, and a Neotech - both work on my other basses, but my old Ricky is a bit of a boat anchor, and very tough on long gigs and rehearsals.

Saw these, and thought they look of good quality, especially given in how high regard their instruments are.

Ideas? :)

If you're looking for comfort, what about one of these?

I used to have a Levey's stretch strap many years ago and it was incredibly comfortable. I saw this video, the other day and it reminded me how great it was. I have a comfort strap with lots of padding but after a long gig it can still get uncomfortable. I'm going to try one of these again (my original got lost along the way). They're not particularly expensive either.

Hynoptic straps are a third of those prices and very comfortable, they do a lot of padded Ines including a 4" variant. I have four now of different designs and quality is the match of any I have seen irrespective of price.

I use the strap that came with my Maruszczyk Elwood L with my 4003s (it's pointless with the Elwood as is seems to be full of helium) and I find it more comfortable than my Mono.

I've got two Maruzczyk Straps, and they're brilliant. Wide and well-padded, and not 'stretchy'.

They're fantastically comfortable. However, as I found out last week, a black one in combination with a sweaty day and my favourite white Hendrix t-shirt is a poor mix. Comfy yes, colourfast no!

I've bought two (light brown ones and I haven't played in a sweaty atmosphere yet, so I can't say whether they are colourfast or not) from BassDirect and they are wonderful. I'm sure there are other comfortable wide ones out there which are perhaps cheaper but I'm sticking with these.

Thanks guys, they do sound like what I need.

I love my Neotech - but it's too bouncy with the weighty Ricky, and the Mono isn't enough.

These sound just the job - it's the extra padding and weight spreading I need the most. :)

FWIW neither of mine have this affliction...

Hopefully a one-off.

Can I ask which colour/s you have, WoT? They all look pretty tempting! :)

I have a Comfort Strapp and love it. Has anyone compared these to the Neotech straps? Based on construction alone I suspect the Comfort Strapp is probably sturdier feeling and perhaps less bouncy. Might be worth trying out? I think The Bass Gallery in London usually have them in stock.

Edit: seems Bass Direct also have them in stock. Also, I've just been drooling over those Maruszczyk straps - they're gorgeous!

Pulled the trigger on a Maruszczyk PES50 in 'Antique'.

All the shades look good, and I was thinking that a Road Worn strap might actually suit my Flea Jazz bass....! :)

Has anyone tried the Heistercamp padded straps? I've been lusting after one for a while as they look gorgeous!! Not sure how padded they are. They are pricey but will be worth it I'm sure :)

Yup, I have a Hypnotic 4" wide and also a rather nice Minotaur one, again 4" wide. Bought then for a total bargain absolutely brand new.

My main strap is a 3 1/2" (90mm) wide Harvest strap and isn't padded. Funnily enough, my padded strap isn't that much more comfortable.

IME the width is important to spread the load but if you really need a good strap to help with physical limitations you really need a lighter bass. My main bass these days weighs less than 9 lbs (4kg). I've sold some fantastic instruments because of the weight.

It is what it is.

A 7lb (3.5kg) Sadowsky is looking pretty inviting these days.

I've got Maru's - wide and extra-wide. With my heaviest bass I find the extra-wide as comfy as my ridiculously expensive Gibson strap that has even more padding. The normal wide is just as comfy with my lighter basses. Re colour-fastness, can't comment as mine aren't black and I'm not much of a sweater

Neotech straps mmn make sure you get the correct one or a waste of time and customer service is lacking . The Hypnotic of Poland looks fantastic value at £25.00 for 4" padded leather . Ive got one of the Leathercraft Softee ones at 4" and padded leather . Its great also and around £21-23 .

How's the colour-fastness on it?

I've got a couple hat came with the basses I own and I have not used them at all... I forgot entirely about them and came across them the other day and I'm considering using them. They are wide and padded, comfy. I am used to standard width hemp ones and I'm ok with them but after trying the Maruszczyk I'm thinking they deserve being used ;)

I often wonder about selling everything and getting a 7 pounder built. Might even get to 6.5 if it was a 32 scale and slightly undersized body.

After 30-odd years of using a plain, single ply leather strap, thought it might be time to invest in some padding for my shoulder. Ordered a Mono GS1 today.

Seen a few that look very promising too. The Kliq one looks good, as does the Ibanez Bass Works one (they also do one with extra padding). The Comfort Strapp one looks pretty good too.

Wait for the Mono to arrive & see what I think to that.
