plumbob
Lovely thick bass sound that our Trev is getting on this, looks like a Precision to me , and I know its probably going through god knows what compressor wise , and a large PA . Or is it some Line 6 varax or Roland V bass ,what do you reckon? Also nice to see him at the end pay respect to Louis Jardin, who apparently played the bass part on the record , and is in the band playing percussion behind him. ( I always thought it was Sly & Robbie ) Anyway enjoy! Faithless
Sounds interesting, but it really ain't that sort of sound, which you couldn't get without a p[r]ick... 1:1, Clarky? Cheers

Josh
Isn't that the bassist of The Buggles?
Rayman
Trevor Horn, yes. Fingers, pick, flats, rounds, blah blah...........whatever technique anyone has, if it sounds great, then they're doing it right, and that sounds great. Trev's a talented chap. OldGit
Isn't that the bassist of The Buggles?
Yep. It's Trevor Horn. That's the "Trev" Ian McShane is referring to, at the title of the thread. Read Allllllllll about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_Horn Oh and at the end of the video Trev credits Louis Jardim as playing the orginal bass part on the rekkerd .. Wow, has he been around : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Jardim I must admit I thought it was Sly and Robbie too but Wikipedia doesn't list them as being on the Album at all .. chris_b
On this vid the band is Trevor Horn's (Buggles) mates, with the great Paul Robinson on drums. If TH had anything to do with the sound, and he probably did, there will either be a couple of engineers sitting at a portable SSL desk behind the scenes or it would have been post engineered through TH's studio. It's a great sound but with that equipment you can make anything sound great.

molan
I love the fact that no-one has mentioned what the camera team were obviously most interested in - Grace Jones' legs You can tell this is a 'proper' muso's forum can't you
