Blimey. I'm not sure whether that's silly, awful or the best thing since sliced hard-boiled egg. It looks properly uncomfortable to play sitting down though.

The price is very steep, may as well get one custom built brand new for the same price!

Yeah very expensive. I'd like to try one though but only if I could stick a GK pickup in it and control synths with it I think the scale length might pose problems though.

Hmmm. Just had a look on the Wingbass site and configured a custom fiver to a similar spec but with a purple heart top, maple fretboard and a ramp between pickup and bridge for the same price oh well...

I think you are supposed to rest the section with the controls on your leg classical guitar style.

Don't see why you couldn't as it's basically the same as sticking a capo on the 12th fret of a standard 5 string. I see Wingbass offer an option to have an EHX Micro POG built into the control cavity... Interesting!

I was watching this too but couldn't bring myself to make an offer.
Would be interested in getting a hands on experience of a wingbass but I don't think many have come over here. I like the idea but most of the videos I've seen they are played more guitar-like for my tastes.

Wingbass apparently did quite a bit of testing of octavers and found the pog to be best match. There's a few other you tube videos of people using different octave pedals with one. I'm undecided if I like them.

I'm thinking about having one made here, but to my own spec and shape. I'd have a built in GK3b pickup so I can use a polyphonic octaver among other things, plus a built in tuner and headphone amp.

Not really sure, but I'm throwing some ideas out there to see who might be interested. I've never had a bass built for me before, and don't think I ever would have a 'normal' bass made for me as my preference is very much for a graphite neck.

I'm just conducting some experiments with tunings and so forth but reckon it'll be a 5 string tuned DADGC. I did a really crap sketch on a whiteboard app last night to throw some ideas around with regards to shape and it might look something like this



As I say, just an idea for now. The body will be 'wing' shaped, so rolled off at the front and back in an elliptical shape whilst the top 'cross section' will be flat, to accommodate the built in tuner flush with the body and possibly the headphone jack. The bottom edge will be shaped to feel comfortable on the leg (will probably play this sitting down mostly) with the 13 pin and standard jack on the 'trailing edge'.

I also kind of want it to be red

I think it'll be easier to start from scratch than modify something like that. They're only designed for rubber strings so once you remove the bridge, add new tuners etc you'll probably find the neck can't take the tension etc.
