The MK link is a bit tenuous! This bass was never owned or played by him but the owner allegedly knew JD and MK personally - which does make it expensive IMHO.

Here is the answer Andrew gave me to that "strange" bass :

This bass was custom built to the original customers own specifications.

It is essentially a GA24 but with Calibas electronics and a Pangborn style headstock.
