Compressor for a noob

+1 for the TC Spectracomp, simple one 'Knoob' control. BUT I would add a Micro Thumpinator. Following advice from Phil Starr the Thumpinator really cleaned up my Fender Rumble 500 boomy bottom end and the Spectracomp provides extra control of the overall sound.

As wonderful as these pedals are, compressors don't come much more "ultra pricey" than a Cali 76!
