ead Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Does anybody know what year Fender introduced white perloid pickguards for basses? Can't find anything on t'interweb. Thanks in advance. Quote
AndyTravis Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 They seemed to kick in around 64/65. See them on the mustangs etc. Quote
Sibob Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I don't recall white pearloid being available before the 90's other than on Mustangs (as mentioned above), could be wrong though. Si Quote
fftc Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 1977? That was when bad taste became fashionable, wasn't it? Quote
ead Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 I'm fairly sure I made bad taste fashinable before then having given advice to Michael Foot on dress sense Quote
Rick's Fine '52 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Agree with comments above. Lots of white pickguards in the late 60's had pearloid backs, as they had a huge surplus of the sheet material. Most Telecaster bass's have pearloid back white guards, or did before they perished. Surplus was probably because they realised it looked awful, and didn't widen the use across the range. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 my 1972 daphne blue musicmaster bass has a white pearl pickguard. Quote
