Basscabman Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 For years (many years) I've used alternate fingering when ascending and raking when descending, after watching an Ariane Capp video on right hand technique seems I should have alternate fingering when descending also! After practising this for a few days I've noticed that using alternate fingering going both up and down makes for a more even smoother run than raking. However, It's driving me mental!!!!! Anyone have any good exercises to get this down In my playing? So far I'm just going up and down scales in circles of 4ths but anyone have anything that will speed up the process or is it as always Is. Keep practicing until It's second nature? Cheers. Quote
louisthebass Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Try doing your scales in thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, sevenths and octaves ascending and descending - that will really test how efficient your alternate plucking is. Playing funk lines (like TOP's "What is Hip") is also a good workout as well, and will show up any flaws in your technique. Quote
