BassBod Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) These are superb old style single coil Jazz pickups. They came out of my '66 style Bravewood bass, and I believe were made in the USA by Voodoo/Peter Florance. No markings to confirm this, unfortunately. I believe these are the 'black" version, reproducing a 1965 style Fender pickup. They sound absolutely right, burp bark and honk...at the cost of some single coil hum and microphonics. [attachment=251849:IMG_2756.JPG] Covers have been "aged" with softened edges and pole pieces are also marked..as with Bravewood guitars. The bridge pickup was re-wound and wax potted by Barenuckle a few years ago after becoming very microphonic. From memory it was still a bit microphonic when it came back, but a lot better. Cables are pretty short, but just as they came out of the Bravewood jazz bass. [attachment=251850:IMG_2757.JPG] I got fed up with the single coil hum so put an old set of Bartolini pickups into the bass last year. Not so vintage. but no hum and its still a great sound. CH161 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Any chance of a pic with the covers off? Also if you have a multimeter handy the output readings would be good.
