Graham Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Why's the fifth in parentheses on the major 6/9? Quote
ambient Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) I've never seen a major 7 written with a line through the 7. I imagine that could be confusing, a lot of people, me included write their 7s like that anyway. Other ways are M7, and sometimes a triangle. Edited August 22, 2017 by ambient Quote
bazzbass Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 can't ever have too many copies of this, thanks for sharing Quote
geoham Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017
Why's the fifth in parentheses on the major 6/9?
Just a guess - perhaps it's optional? Five separate notes could be tricky on a guitar or keyboard. Or perhaps to reduce the dissonance a bit - a 5th and 6th together doesn't sound too nice in my view. Quote
SpondonBassed Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Ta. Have you got this in tab? [runs away cackling] Quote
