Hi, I have just bought a bass. I've not played any instrument since I was at school (about 35 yrs!!) and don't know where to start. What is most important? Thanks.😀

Tutor wise: See if there is someone in your area already listed in these postings. Where are you based?

Book wise: Hal Leonard Bass Method Complete Edition.

Internet: Scotts Bass Lessons, you can subscribe to the academy, but trial first.

Commitment - Rome wasn't built in a day....

There is a ton out learning aids out there, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for everybody.

I'd start by learning both major and minor scales and learn to play in time - I'm sure somebody will recommend a metronome type app which can help with the latter. Both the scales I mention are available online.

Hopefully these will help as a good bassline (no pun intended)

There's no right & wrong, plenty of ways to do this.

I picked up a bass for the first time on my 49th birthday.

This worked brilliantly for me: http://stuartclayton.com/books/crash-course-bass/
