Woodinblack
Been a fan since I first heard them in the late 70s, bought moving pictures on release day. For me that sort of stopped after hold your fire, bought the album and saw the tour but for me power windows was the last album.
spectoremg
No, no, no! Rush were well past their sell by date when they knocked it on the head. Outside of guest appearances with Yes pass your days telling your grandkids what you did in the seventies.
TimR
Every album has been different. Some people (like me) like that. I don't think they've made a bad album. Some I don't particularly enjoy or listen to as much as others. It depends on my mood mostly. I guess a lot of people get nostalgic about the good old power trio, screamy band. Moving Pictures is obviously the biggest success and as such speaks to most people, there's not a bad song in that whole album and in contrast Signals had a lot to live up to and didn't really deliver for me. Woodinblack
They did all have something and that is the strength that kept them going. And probably the ones you like are where you discovered them. I didn't see them again after presto came out, and it was the first album I hadn't bought straight off, but I did eventually get them all after a few decades of not listening. And it depends on moods - Permanent waves, Moving pictures, Signals, Grace under pressure, Power windows, all big favourites, but then there are some days where only 2112, Farewell to kings or hemispheres will do. When it comes down to it, 2112 is still the only album to ever make me wish I was a drummer. Edited August 29, 2017 by Woodinblack
Chris2112
IMO (of course) I really wanted CA to be a great return to form, but I was disappointed. The mix is fussy, and the songs are flabby.
To my shame, I bought Clockwork Angels and gave it a run through, half-heartedly listening but with nothing really grabbing me. That said, I thought Snakes and Arrows was pretty tremendous and I'm glad I got that one when it was released. I didn't think the Rush of the 90's was up to all that much as they reflected the trend for alt-rock. Just as rock music lost it's inspiration over that period, so did Rush. That said, the string of classic albums from Signals through Hold Your Fire (with Presto and RTB being strong efforts) were unlikely to ever be matched. I can still remember being a 16 year old in the basement of Virgin Music on Northumberland Street in the Toon listening to 'Afterimage' from Grace Under Pressure on the sampler headphones and being absolutely overwhelmed. Here, finally, was a rock band with melody and song writing! I've been in love with their music ever since.
jezzaboy
According to an interview on Ultimate Guitar, it`s all a lot of tosh. The interviewer asked Alex and he said that they were both working on their own projects and had no plan to do anything together at the moment.
