Dandelion
Nice.. Bargain Bass indeed. I don't suppose you fancy a Ray 34 do you?
timhiggins
I'd love it but I'm sure you don't want to swap it for a £50 p 😁
SlapbassSteve
Nice! I've played some amazing old cheapo P-copy basses over the years, had an 80's Kay Precision once that sounded glorious(and weighed a tonne). There's a lot of fun to be had for under £100 once you know what to look for!
tom1946
Totally agree. I just bought a P bass for 35 quid off Gear4music, also bought one of their 35 quid necks and fettled it by filing the edges and rolling the neck to make it easier to play. I fitted some lightweight wilkinson tuners, a new Dimarzio DP127 pickup and a spare KiOgon loom I had in the drawer. Now I have a gorgeous black bass that is very light (7.5 lbs) and sounds like thunder, it's almost perfick. I love messing about like this. Actually it would be even cheaper if I sold the rosewood neck..... Edited September 1, 2017 by tom1946

NoirBass
I have a £40 SX P bass that I leave at one of the venues I play at. Whilst it's never going to feel like a much more expensive bass, after a quick setup it's perfectly useable. It's probably done over 100 gigs now and actually sounds exactly like a P bass should. I always enjoy the fact that the MXR DI box I leave in the front pocket of its gig bag cost more than double the price of the bass 😄. LITTLEWING
I picked up a neglected old style Westfied for £20, upgraded the pups, bridge and electrics and it's one of my main giggers. Not too fussed if it gets injured, adds to the mojo.
tom1946
Post some pictures Tom
Ok this is it: One of the best players I've ever had. It's very light, body is Pawlonia, you need light tuners to avoid the slight neck heaviness, I used wilko's. Cheap but good project. timhiggins
Looks great ,how do those dimarzio's compare to fender p.u.p's ?
tom1946
Definately much more power but very good definition, to me better than a US fender pickup but not by a lot, have to say.
