Hellzero
If you want to refinish it, it's now or never. Why ? Because nitrocellulosic colours are simply not made anymore and those stocking them are keeping them or selling them like liquid gold. If you decide to do it, go to a real Fender specialist as there are some "things" to know about the paint job at the time. Relicing or not is up to you. bubinga5
Strip it to bare wood and clear coat it, like what Marcus Miller did like 20 years ago or whatever. basskompis
I´d just leave it be. Looks good!
Pea Turgh
Marcus didnt refinish his Jazz
Must have my wires crossed. I remember seeing an article in some bass magazine in the mid 90's where he (or so I thought!) was holding a lovely looking jazz with no scratch plate, and the holes had been filled in. It looked immense! Perhaps it was someone else's bass and he was just in the same issue!
Marc S
I quite like that colour. Maybe, as others have suggested - try a different colour pickguard? Perhaps an off-white / aged white / ivory, or a white pearloid. You might find you like the colour then - in any case, that's the cheapest option.. If you want a high standard of re-fin, that's going to cost you. And this bass has its' own mojo
MM Stingray 62
I'd go for a bravewood refinish he's my 66 done by John his work is the best IMO. Edited November 5, 2017 by marleaux62
Rikki_Sixx
Gorgeous bass but not a fan of that green. As it's already had a refinish another one won't hurt so if you're already thinking about it I'd go for it! What original colour are you leaning toward? No point doing the sunburst for the sake of it unless it's your top choice. I'd ask about light relicing to get it "back up to speed", just to a similar state it's in now! 12stringbassist
I wouldn't worry about the age of the bass or its history as it has already been refinished once. If getting it done in another colour would please you more than its current colour, then just get it done. As for relic-ing it. I'd personally say no.
