gary mac
Haven't listened to Can in many a year but they were regularly listened to back in my youth.
discreet
Very sad. CAN were, and still are, a big part of my life. I never considered them to be 'a band' more of a philosophy. Holger was one of the most innovative and interesting bass players ever.
FinnDave
How sad, I still listen to Can fairly regularly, great band and his bass playing was such an essential part of the sound. Loved his solo albums as well. That's Holger and Jaki gone now. I'll have a listen to Ege Bamyasi in his memory right now. alembic1989
Absolutely gutted. One of my fave bassists, and I adored Can. Gutted.
Highfox
Sad, I got into Holger and Jaki through Wobble's stuff. True Pioneers for sure.

[/quote] I thought of that, but not sure I can listen to that in daylight! Vitamin C had with sitting here with tears in my eyes. Playing it again right now. I went to see them in Manchester in the 70s, but the gig was cancelled because Irmin Schmidtt had injured his arm carrying some sort of domestic equipment down stairs (I think it was a fridge!) Which is what music is, or should be.

Background music it certainly isn't!

spongebob
Superb musician, amazing works. RIP, HC. Very sad to think that we've lost two pioneers within days.
