bassmansky Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 what is the best value for money precision copy?so many around and alot of c@@p out there but must be one or two worth the money! Quote
Rayman Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Depends how much you want to spend. A good Squier is hard to beat, and of course Mexican and Japanese Fenders too, if you can find a good one, they're often better than the US ones IMO. How much dosh are you talking about? Quote
Rayman Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 One of these for instance: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=9341 Check out that colour too, superb bass. Quote

Telebass Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Try and find some SX basses and try a few. A bit clunky, but stunning value! Otherwise, I'd recommend the CV Squier... Quote
Musky Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) Aren't the Jim Deacon basses with 20 frets supposed to be the same as SX? I haven't tried either brand, but the SX's seem well thought of both here and on talkbass. If cash is tight they could be worth a punt, especially since Jim Deacons are fairly readily available and you could actually try one without shelling out first. Edit: watch out for 21 fret SX's - they seem to be the only ones available in this country (new anyhow) and they aren't as well made apparently. Edited November 5, 2008 by Musky Quote
Musky Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008
Jim Deacon = SX
And 21 frets = cheaper starter versions, not the ones people seem to rate. I don't think the 20 fret SX branded fender clones are available in this country. Quote
