AGBFunkybassman
Im 60 years old and have been playing since I was 18 and mostly use a plectrum whilst playing only switching fingers when I wanted a softer sound mid-song. Having decideded to try and learn how 'finger' correctly i.e. alternate fingers goining up and a mixture of alterning fingers and raking when switching strings coming down my problem is now is this . . I have difficulty playing simple lines (at present when coming 'down' the index or middle finger used to play a string is decided by which finger is fretting the note.... this happens automatically but is technically wrong as I end double fingering with the same finger) so I'm wonder how I should attack this. Firstly, should I bother.... does it matter if it's 'Tecnically' wrong ?? Whats the best way to 'Unlearn' old habits
TheGreek
...are you baiting the pedantics amongst us??
paul_c2
1) its not technically wrong, its just a variation 2) IMHO its not worth unlearning, mainly based on
chris_b
One of the best bass players so far only used 1 finger. . . James Jamerson. All world class bass players probably do something "wrong". Don't worry that you're right or wrong, does your style work for you? Can you easily play everything that you want to play? Unless you're having problems of some kind I'd stick with what you do.
AGBFunkybassman
No Baiting just an honest question .... well two actually.... The second bit being how to unlearn old habits and I suspect the answer is to play the new habit 22 million times until it becomes 'the old habit'. I think I can see some serious 'Shed' time in my future ;-)
