miles'tone
Unfortunately with Ishibashi they can't ship instruments with rosewood fingerboards internationally now due to the CITES thing. I actually bought a 70us P bass in the summer but they couldn't get the license to send it. If they (Ishibashi) acquired the bass after Jan 31 2017 then it's a no go. The P I was after was actually acquired by them in 2016 but they couldn't find the documentation to prove it so no joy. The correspondence I had with their international customer service chappie was second to none though. He tried everything to sort it out, emailing me almost daily with updates. Gave me a full refund in the end. Can't fault them and I would not hesitate buying from them "again" if I was into maple boarded Precisions. JamesBass
I totally forgot about the CITES reg changes! I was considering a MIJ from Ishibashi just the other day! From the Marusz (that's the most I can spell right now of them!) that I've played it felt nice, but sounded much more modern than any of the 60s P's I'd played! Plus their "custom shop" prices have gone up quite a bit, a P that wasn't actually a full width P neck was topping out at £1450. Where as the Moollon was only coming in at £1700 for the exact spec I'm after. The attention to detail that the Moollon guys put in to things really excites me and combined with the amount of pro players who have used and do use them I'm certain that I'll be placing a order for one at some point soon, I just need to save up a little bit more! Bigwan
There was a CIJ P on ebay the other day from Japan that specifically mentioned that it would take 2 extra weeks to ship while CITES docs were arranged. Not sure if it was Ishibashi though...

[/quote] Yeah I've seen all the options at Maruszczyk, it's certainly a good way of doing custom orders but I'm not sure they are for me as I don't think they nail that vintage sound. Yeah the Moollon final price was all inclusive of shipping and tax! The exact price delivered is £1703.47 on today's exchange rates.
Bigwan
Not an update as such as no purchase made, but I played a JV Squier P (actually a bitsa P with a JV neck) in Some Neck Guitars in Dublin yesterday. Yum. That neck is as close as I've felt to my friend's 60's P, maybe a fraction narrower. Certainly a nicer neck than my '08 USA P. Also had my first positive Ricky encounter... but I'd never EVER buy one, just to spite Mr. Ricky (wouldn't even waste my time looking up his actual name).
