foxyFuze Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Ok so I stumbled upon this on FB marketplace. I have an 80s Jazz Special and love it; I'm intrigued and confused by this one that seemingly has a mix of original and replacement parts (different tuners and pickups). Thoughts, anyone? https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=jazz%20special Quote
oldslapper Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Looks like a P bass lyte from the picture, but I haven't been on FB for ages so haven't looked at the ad Quote
foxyFuze Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 Yeah that crossed my mind too, but the head actually says 'jazz bass special'. A bitsa job perhaps. Quote
dannybuoy Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 (edited) This isn't the first one I've seen - I think these were a limited run that the Lyte was later based on? It's just like this one: https://www.talkbass...5#post-15343195 And this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-FENDER-JAPAN-Jazz-base-SPECIAL-PJR-65BLK-Electric-Bass-w-soft-case-EMS-/152683140817?hash=item238c9fd6d1:g:E5wAAOSwrblZnIBx Edited September 22, 2017 by dannybuoy Quote

spectoremg Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 My first bass was a P Lyte deluxe (three band eq) and it was awesome and very light. Quote
dannybuoy Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 I bought an 80s MIJ Jazz Special PJ from Wunjos today after testing it out last week. Sounded better than any other PJ in Fenders current line up, including the Elites! On my way home I popped into the Gallery in Camden and they have a slightly different model with angled pickups as well as a P Lyte and a bright red Tokai Hard Puncher copy of the Jazz Special! Great prices on all of them too. Quote
