kevvo66 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Hiya people , I'm looking at buying a mini bass rig , probably 100 watt ish for home use and quietish rehearsals,I do fancy one of those ampeg micro stacks as it's quit cute anyone got one and what do they think of them or something similar as I'm giving up gigging I think but doing a bit of jamming now and then and some recording but priorities change in life and with me being up in the air health wise and on more drugs than smachead locked in pharmacy for the weekend ,I don't have the energy no more or drive to gig as I'm shattered by midnight ,sorry for rambling on , just thought I'd explain Cheers Kev Quote
machinehead Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 A Barefaced one10 and GK MB200 makes a fine, lightweight, small and giggable combo. (That's not ACTUALLY a combo. ) Frank. Quote
chris_b Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I use my big rig TH500 and a BF One10 at home. Quote
scrumpymike Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 One10 plus Eden WTX264 is what I use at home and for small/'unplugged'-type gigs. Quote
Lozz196 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Why not look at the Trace Elliot Elf & one of the matching speaker cabs? Quote
Dan Dare Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Aguilar AG700 plus PJB C4 is my mini rig. Add more C4s and it gets less mini. Quote
kevvo66 Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 I foolishly sold ,my pj compact 4 cab bad mistake ,I do like trace stuff and them elfs amps look great Quote
dmccombe7 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 +1 for the tiny GK MB200 with any decent lightweight cab. So small it almost fits in your pocket. You could check out the Markbass combo. Seen a few 2nd hand ones around for circa £400. I use mine at home and if you add the extension cab its more than capable of coping with decent sized gigs without PA support. Dave Quote
dannybuoy Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The little Ampeg Micro VR stack sounds great, and there is just such a rig in the classifieds. The cabs sound like an 810 with less low end. I have a pair of them and use them at home! A word of warning about the Micro VR stack though, it is designed to be able to be used with a pair of the matching cabs (which you would most likely need to get to gigging volume with only 100W), however it goes snap crackle and pop, sounding like it’s about to explode when you do so. That amp plus pretty much any other pair of 8 ohm cabs is fine, or these cabs with any other amp is also fine. Probably just tolerances and the cabs a slightly lower impedance than labelled compared to other cabs. Quote
dave74200 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 My Orange Bass Terror and Barefaced Midget T sound outstanding, and is tiny and light. Quote

Cuzzie Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) PJB bass cub Love mine, decent sound coming out and for recording a very good DI out. It’s got 2 instrument inputs, one could be for a Microphone and an aux in What more do you need?! Edited September 30, 2017 by Cuzzie Quote
casapete Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 From your sig it seems you like the Fender Rumble combos, so why not one of the 100 watt jobs? Sound great and light as a light thing. Loud enough for quietish gigs too. Quote
Japhet Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I just picked up a Fender Rumble 100 watt combo from the forum. Light as a feather, sounds great at low volume and will go plenty loud as well. Mine was £200 with a quality cover. Used it the other night at an acoustic jam and it was bang on. Try one - I don't think you'd regret it. Quote
kevvo66 Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 I'm tempted with the rumble, I have its little brother which is bloody loud for a small combo but wouldn't cut it live, thanks People Quote
Cuzzie Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I have a Hartke HD25 also, and It is pretty decent, I am sure upping the wattage will get you loud enough, and they are comparative peanuts in price Quote
bazzbass Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 sorry to hear of your health issues, hope they ease up a bit there are so many light, small rigs available, take your pick mine is a MarkBass LittleMark250 Blackline paired with a Hartke xl210 cab. Quote
fretmeister Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 The Tecamp Puma 300 in the classifieds and a Barefaced One10. Very light weight and sounds great. Quote
