Our singer used to rave about him. Then again he didn't play guitar... and I did... In fairness, his acoustic work used to be ok back in the day. Edited October 11, 2017 by leftybassman392 Quote
leftybassman392 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Dunno if this is worth mentioning, but Springsteen's rhythm guitar work in the ESB was an important element in their sound but never seems to get a mention. Just a thought... Quote

No, really: it seems everyone knows Streets of London, but a lot of people are very surprised when you point out that he had some exceptional acoustic fingerpicking skills. Bilbo Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Every Jazz Guitarist ever. I always struggle with the underrated thing because it is inevitably subjective but there are a million Jazz guitarists who can outplay the more populist players yet remain obscure even amongst musicians. I am not going to list them as there are far too many. Quote

We are following the advice of 'bassace', but believe me, we will eventually get around to all the country / Nashville session players, bluegrass, steel string fingerstyle / folk and flamenco players. Next up after that lot will be a selection of 'Dog & Duckers'. So Hang in there, it just takes time. Quote

On this basis most jazz guitarists are not underrated because what they do play appeals to a small audience. Quote

Crawford13 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I think Larry La Londe of Primus is really under rated. When I saw Primus a couple of years ago he really stole the show! His textural playing is outstanding! Quote
