West Side Story: A (Lone) Percussionist's Perspective

[lowdown]

West Side Story, as some will know, Is a roast up of reading at the best of times, but this guy is a lunatic.

The original score has three/four percussion players, so this one player is doing a terrific job of reading and combining all the rearranged parts.
A very much condensed Am Dram band & score, struggling at times (by the sound of it), yet he marches on regardless.

Well, I’ve done West Side as a trumpeter and as bass player and he would have been a joy to work with. Kudos.

I've done the Symphonic Dances version in an orchestra on violin and think it was my favourite in years and years of orchestral playing. This guy is incredible, it's fascinating to watch.
