It's Hosco binding, funny enough.   You can find it almost everywhere.

There's black, white, cream,  black/white/ black multi , white/black/white multi, which is what i have

Or as an alternative, and to be a tad different, you could do what Robin at Manton Customs did to fretless my Peavey neck

There's no nasty superglue either.  Smooth as a grass snake on syrup.

That looks fantastic @fleabag.

I've always liked the hofner striped fret markers so this is right up my street.

I'm sure I remembered something about jaco pulling the frets and using a tube of plastic wood to fill the gaps. (not sure and haven't googled it. I'm just going by memory)
This was in 1990. I had bought a USA '62 reissue P bass and decided to do the same. Pulled the frets and filed with tube of stuff. Worked a treat

Yes, and he used a butter knife to pull out the frets.

He also got drunk, though other drugs might have been involved as well, and provoked a bouncer at a bar to beat him to death.

Neither something I would recommend anyone to copy.

The guy was an astonishing genius musician, hard to argue against that, but that does not mean that everything else he did is equally great and admirable and should serve as an example for everyone to blindly follow, or that he didn't in fact also suffer from mental illness.
