Old Horse Murphy Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Mine is G. I feel empowered and strong when I play it. It makes me happy What's your fave? Quote
FinnDave Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 F#, without a doubt. Only the lowest one, of course. Quote
T-Bay Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Open E on the Thunderbird, E for earthquake. Quote
Grangur Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 My favourite is D. I thought this was alone in this. It seemed daft and illogical when I first found I like 1 note over the others. Thanks for posting. Quote
ahpook Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017
D on the B string.
I can see where you're coming from, but it has to be C# for me. Cheeky, but not impertinent...a smooth finish with overtones of wood and warm copper Quote

Bobthedog Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) Every bass line I hear and like appears to be in A, ideally on the 5th fret on the E string. At a pinch I do enjoy an E flat on the A string Edited October 8, 2017 by Bobthedog Quote
Hobbayne Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Bb. A string first fret. You cant tell me that's not a pukka note. Quote
SimonEdward Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 G# on the top string. Up high, I like to hit either a low open or fretted E to go with it... niiiiiiiiiiiiice Quote
This is the best note ! The Chicken, played in Bb works best and it suits horn players down to a tee. Makes it easy to play all of those jacoisms too. Quote
keeponehandloose Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 E flat , when its been bent up from D. Not quite perfectly bent but a slightly flat sounding flat. Quote
magee Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 When I was a callow youth it was open E - nobody else in the band can get this low, I rule! At some point I gravitated to low G. But lately I've been loving the resonance and harmonics of G, fifth fret on the D string. That little bit more refined, less boomy, a classier kind of G. Quote
