RichardH
I'm thinking of building a partner to my 1x12 Electrovoice cab, but rather than the slightly OTT 18mm birch ply used for the first one, I want to try and make it a lighter package. So 12mm ply is the order of the day I think, along with some stiffening on the panels. I'm in East Herts (near Hertford/Harlow/Stevenage), and have had problems getting hold of spruce ply before - apart from stuff that was stored badly and so bent like a banana - as well as being full of voids etc. Any suggestions for suppliers - or what to search/ask around for? alexclaber
I had to resort to visiting all my local timber yards until I found the right ply. If you google timber suppliers you should be able to get a short list together of those that mention supplying sheet products but as you've found until you see the ply you can't tell if it's any good! Spruce, poplar and okoumé (the stiffest for their weight) are particularly elusive... Alex
