I am bored after the first 10 seconds... [/quote] So, not a great lover of Beethoven either, then..? It's true, it's not 'instant gratification' listening, and, indeed, doesn't appeal to all. I wouldn't listen to it either as a loop tape on a desert island, but it does have its moments, and there are 'right times' for listening to such stuff. dave_bass5
It would have been more interesting if at some point he rotated his head 360 degrees whilst playing Ive always loved side one of TB, but hardly ever listened to side 2. Hellzero
Steve Hillage is in great condition and playing so close to the spirit of Mike Oldfield... :-) Looks like the Gong gang was a favourite of Mike Oldfield. Thanks for posting this. A pleasure to watch and hear. I've always loved Mike Oldfield compositions and contribtions And it's more on the Purcell and Vivaldi [ever listened to the concerti for mandoline(s) ?)] side than Beethoven. ;-)

bazzbass
A couple of years ago I saw two Melbourne musicians perform both sides of Tubular Bells live. Just the two of them. They played brilliantly, with surprisingly minimal use of loopers. Great music

discreet
At a certain time in the 70s, you could say everything you wanted to say about yourself while being being super-cool simply by carrying a copy of Tubular Bells under one arm in public. DJpullchord
I like the bit where he plays an e minor wiv an F# on the top of it. Somewhere in the second side. Reminds of taking acid competitively as a kid.

cytania
It's a remarkable piece of music. Symphonic yet a real earworm. It's also very sensitive to mixing. The demos and recent remix sound like different compositions.
