So, not a great lover of Beethoven either, then..? It's true, it's not 'instant gratification' listening, and, indeed, doesn't appeal to all. I wouldn't listen to it either as a loop tape on a desert island, but it does have its moments, and there are 'right times' for listening to such stuff. Wagner's 'Ring' drones on for fifteen hours or so ...

A couple of years ago I saw two Melbourne musicians perform both sides of Tubular Bells live.

Just the two of them. They played brilliantly,with surprisingly minimal use of loopers.

It's a remarkable piece of music. Symphonic yet a real earworm. It's also very sensitive to mixing. The demos and recent remix sound like different compositions.
