**SOLD** Status Matrix 4-string bass for sale

This bass was bought second-hand a few years ago in a shop for about £700, which in retrospect was possibly a bit too much, but it's a lovely guitar in excellent condition with a newly installed battery in the electronics and a wonderful gutsy sound. I've hardly used it though and it deserves to be played. So I'm reluctantly selling it.

I'm not setting a price as such, just looking for the best I can get bearing in mind what I paid. Suffice to say that anything over £500 will include the perfect-condition Westfield hard case it's in in the photos, although this is also available for an extra £50 if the guitar goes for less. I will deliver at no cost if within 50 odd miles of where I live (Chesham, Bucks), or it can be collected by arrangement, otherwise courier for £25.

I was about to say that these aren't something you see everyday, but as I've got one that isn't exactly true.

FWIW I paid £675 for mine in 1996, so £700 a few years back doesn't sound unreasonable. Unless they saw both of us coming.

Lovely looking example you've got there and they sound the dog's nads as well, so someone should snap this up.

I've received a question on this and not being too knowledgeable about Status guitars I'm seeking the answer from the experts on here. I'm pretty sure the Matrix has a graphite neck - can someone please confirm this?

Absolutely mate! The bass is in fact a Series I Matrix - I've owned 3 of them and currently have one in a five string format!

Im really interested in this - I need a new bass to replace my old honer jack thats really no longer working - i'm a true bedrrom player but do like slapping - is this a true Statsu - I once played a friends graphite status about 20 years ago - and never forgot just how funky it soudned when slapped...i have been lloking for a status headless but cant find anyhting that is remotely affordable - so this sounds perfect for me.....can anyone advise please

This is a very fine bass and a true professional level Status instrument - put it this way, if I did not have to pay this months mortgage I'd buy it tomorrow!!!

Hi Alex

This bass would kick the cr@p out of the hohner (which, let's face it, is a budget Status-wannabe), not just in terms of funky slapability but general all-round playability, feel and tone (oh, that lovely Status tone) - get it bought and you won't look back! (FYI - I believe this is a Matrix 'Series 1' - correct me if I'm wrong, Status fans.)

I have an Energy w/ bolt on graphite neck too and it is spectacular. . I'd buy this but I have no bass GAS anymore.

Unfortunately the guy who seemed most interested in this disappeared after I accepted his offer, so it's available again. Bass + hard case +postage for £500 or best offer in that region. I'm not desperate for the money so can afford to wait either for right price or actual payment.

Also, have you put an advert on Statii.com? May well be someone interested there.

[i]Bump[/i]. Thanks for the suggestions - I've put it on statii.com. I was trying to avoid the fees charged by ebay and paypal, but I may end up putting it on there in due course.
