G & L L2000 Query

I have a question for G&L fans. How does a mid to late 80s L2000 compare to the 2017 offering from G&L? Also, do G&L have a custom shop as I have seen an L2000 on eBay being described as a custom shop instrument?

An 80s L2000 has the three bolt micro tilt neck joint, a new one will have a six bolt neck. Most 80s models will have a metal control plate and black powder coated bridge. Necks vary considerably as customers buying direct can specify the profile and nut width. I've played a huge, deep '81 with a 45mm nut and others that were jazz-like. G&L have limited edition "Custom Creations" which are essentially limited run models. All G&L USA direct orders are in a sense custom shop instruments as the buyer chooses their spec from the available options.

Never played a bad-un and I've had 8 now, vintage and now - Don't be afraid of the 3 bolt (they did it properly).
