Barking Spiders Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017
When people ask what instrument(s) I play and when I tell them "bass", I often just get a blank look in return (I usually just say guitars now, it saves a lot of having to explain) - so I wouldn't say it was too commonplace since most people don't even know what it is and how a bass guitar differs from other guitars.
Come to think of it that's very true. Even with many people I know who love rock when they ask about my guitars (which are on display) I have to explain which ones are the basses and which are the (lead) guitars and what they're used for in a band. TheGreek Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Bass commonplace??? Not compared to the amount of guitars sitting in the corner of would be guitarists' bedrooms. That's why I started playing bass - I just couldn't be (yet another) non-playing Guitard. Does anybody actually know the ratio of Guitards to bassists? Quote

bazzbass Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 If I decided to play every instrument that I heard someone play it beautifully I'd be forever trying out instruments. Sounds like you don't want to be the foundation of a band but rather the lead, go at it, best of luck Quote
Chris2112 Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 There isn't enough bass guitar in music. There isn't enough real instrumentation kn music these days! Quote
