Whats the nearest I can get to a Fender American Vintage '58 Precision Bass ?

Nah I think you`re pretty much spot-on there, Mark. From what I understand the RWs are a little thinner, bodywise, plus nitro coated rather than poly, so they do sing out nicely.

I dunno, the amount I go on about extolling the virtues of the RWs, yet I`ve never had one. Only played a couple, and loved them, but they just don`t do them in "punk" colours. Now a black or white one, well that would suit, oooh!

Oooowff that’s lovely! I have a JV that is exactly what the OP is after. Only paid £250 for it about 4yrs ago too. You can prise it from my cold dead hands. Still, that one in black though, oooowwfff.

I just bought that very bass, it sounds a lot like the 57AVRI that I has a while back... the neck finish feels similar but the neck itself feels slimmer front to back. It really is a stunning bass for the money, and that’s coming from someone who swore never to buy a mim Bass!

😀the 57 is a good bass but IMHO ‘58 is a better bass and period correct bass.’58 sounds way better.

pick ups are way superior,it’s like a custom shop bass. That’s why they discontinued it in less than 3yrs.

Neck is thicker so more tone.

flash lacquer and neck and body dimensions are perfect and it’s lighter in weight than ‘57.

I know that they both comes with Alder and Ash Body.

if I still owned ‘57 I would just change the pickups and maybe the electronics.
