spiltmilk_2000
Hi guys, want to start using my novation bass station synth in my band so was wondering the best way to put that and my bass through the pedal board simultaneously? Obviously the synth is line level so I’m wondering if I need a kind of reverse splitter with some kind of signal reduction? I guess as always there are a number of solutions so all recommendations gratefully received! Thanks!
CameronJ
This was my solution - the pedal on the left. There are more complex alternatives but this is a neat solution in a standard sized pedal enclosure. Synth into channel A, Bass into channel B. Lower the volume of channel A to match the volume of the bass in channel B. Bright Onion were great to deal with too. dannybuoy
Are you wanting the bass and synth to play through the board at the same time, or flick between them? A Boss LS-2 is flexible enough to cope with both options.
spiltmilk_2000
Bright onion looks good! I hadn’t considered whether I want to have the option of A and B simultaneously but thinking about it it might be useful. Will the bright onion do that? Like the fact it’s passive too... Thanks for the boss LS 2 suggestion too! I’ll look into it...
spiltmilk_2000
Hmmm... just had a thought. I don’t use the effects loop on my amp. Could I plug the synth into that and use the return to balance the volume? It’s late... maybe that’s a stupid idea??
dannybuoy
Only if your amp as a blend knob for the fx loop. But that doesn't solve your problem of running bass + synth through the pedal board unless I don't quite get your vision? That Bright Onion box is just a switcher with a level control for one of the inputs by the looks of it, but they do custom work so can make whatever you can dream up. CameronJ
In fact, the pedal on the right of my photo is a mixer which will allow you to have both signals running at the same time. It was a custom order. One input is always on at full volume and the other input is footswitchable with a dedicated volume knob to set its volume when engaged. Very useful little pedal. I think it cost me around £50 ish?
GisserD
i did exactly this with a BS2 and an LS2 it worked a treat!
