Pick a Precision pickguard

Putting together a PJ.

Body will be black, maple neck / Fingerboard.

Help me choose a pickguard!!!

They all have the merits, but I'm leaning towards Tort.

What do you guys think?

Tort, Lewis, def tort. Might seem daft me saying that, seeing as all my basses (the ones that I`m keeping) are black/black/maple, but that`s for my punk heritage, tort def looks the best (had black/tort/maple and it`s the mutts).

I would usually say Tort
But a black P bass, with maple board....
Perhaps Black.... a la JJ Burnel

IMO the only colour tort looks good on is white, gold looks good on bugger all, on black it's got to black or white, funnily enough I've just this very afternoon changed my white pickguard for a black one on my black P bass, being cack handed though its a rose wood neck, lefty maple necks are like rocking horse sh*t, more's the pity

I have 5 pickguards for my P-bass and I just switch them about. It really helps reduce GAS / future potential impulse purchases.

I have a black/maple Precision which is currently fitted with a black scratch plate, but have bought a tort one (cheers, Lozz!) which will adorn it in the near future.

See my Squier guitar from my pre teen years was white on black so I have a bias against it even though it does look nice.

Tort only works with a rosewood fretboard.

My vote is for the black. Like Roger Waters (though that looks even better because of the black hardware).

When I fancied a change from black, I went for this.

Tort with maple fingerboards = NO (unless it's a natural finish body)
Tort on black bodies = No

Parchment (cream) looks best to me. Sets off the black nicely and is in harmony with the maple.
Looks classy.

I voted cream, but it very much depends on the quality of the tort. When tort is bad it's really, REALLY bad!

Can't agree with that, I had a mex Precision that was black, maple, and tort and it was a damn fine looking instrument. Really regret letting it go. My black n maple US Standard Precision will be fitted with the tort guard I have ready for it next month when I change strings.

Tort only goes with a rosewood fingerboard IMO. I voted black, but I quite like gold.
