Hi, what is the best way to identify where Hiss is coming from in a Jeff Berlin rithimic 5 bass ?

Does the hiss only occur when you solo one of the pickups or is it always present?

I don't like their makeup or Gene's massive tongue but they've made some fun records

According to the website, both 4 and 5 string models are both passive, so electronic ‘hiss’ won’t be generated by that part of the signal chain. I’d start looking elsewhere such as amplifier or pedals.

Have you tried a different lead(s)?
Different amp?
Does the hiss disappear when you touch any of the metal parts (bridge for example)?

Could be one of many different things, unfortunately, you have to eliminate each one at a time.
