Gillett basses - anybody tried?

Looking for some feedback from anybody who's played a Gillett electro-acoustic bass. What do you think of the playability, sounds and looks, and what sort of stuff are you using it for? If you bought one, what made you do it - or if you didn't, what stopped you?

Yes I did, but it wasn't set up right for me and I didn't spend much time on it.

I tried the fretted and fretless at the bash and was very impressed. The build and electrics were exceptional..which meant the sound was too. I also had a quick try on one in Hobgoblin in Bristol...seemed really good to me.
They are not my thing though to be honest as I have never hankered after anything other than a solid electric.

If you'd seen me you'd know that a close shave isn't what I'm after!! (Looking for the 'bearded old man' smiley but not finding one on here.)
