IDEA..Bass Sound Sample library

Just had an idea..I'm not sure of the practicalities but here goes.
Would it not be a REALLY COOL IDEA to compile a sound sample library of peoples basses?
Many is the time when I have wanted to buy a bass...usually online but wasn't sure of how it would sound. I am suggesting for example..
1) Fender jazz front pu
fender jazz bridge pu
fender jazz both pu's

and then the same for more exotic basses..
I think it would be a great idea for the Basschat website....just think of how many different basses are owned collectively!

What do you reckon?

We did this on a previous version of the site and had many more basses than Basstasters (albeit in a less well presented package)

I still have all the clips but nowhere to host them all. I will poke around and see how we can sort this out and then request more clips to add to the list...

This would have helped me when I was buying recently. We'd have to make sure the sounds were through a failry "neutral" amp though.

I've always thought this was a great idea. I also think it'd be good if everyone agreed on one particular lick to play (like basstasters), as I think this would make direct comparisons easier to hear
