paddy mcbride Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 So here's a strange one. My Ampeg svt6pro has started clipping and creating an intermittent popping sound. I checked through my whole pedal board to see if the issue was there and couldn't fine any problems. Even when all cables except the power lead are connected, the clipping light flashes intermittently. It turns out, this only happens whilst my drummer is drumming....I know this sounds odd. Does anyone have any ideas, do you think there's a lose connection which is possibly vibrating? Might be time for a service so does anyone know a good amp tech in the manchester area? Any thoughts?? BassBunny Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Dave Lunt in Stockport is the man for amp repairs particularly as your amp has a mess of tubes in it. He is a valve guru. It could be one of the pre-amp valves causing the problem. Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 It could be a microphonic tube. Gently tap on them with a pencil to find out. Quote

paul_5 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Or give Roland Lumby a bell at The Amp Clinic in Salford https://www.facebook.com/theampclinic/ Über tube guru. Quote
RandomBass Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Make sure you use an HB. 2B's are too soft. Quote
paddy mcbride Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 thanks for the contact details and suggestions! I'll grab some HB's too Quote
