Steve Browning
Classic and Cool has the occasional vintage piece - including a beautiful 1970 sunburst Precision at the moment. Guitar Village in Farnham New Kings Road Guitars Wunjo's have some vintage stuff
Mykesbass
Mudpie in Brighton doesn't have a lot of basses, but does get the occasional gem. Worth liking the Facebook page.
ZilchWoolham
Great suggestions! I noticed Wunjo's have a nice U.S. L-2000 in at the moment.
TheGreek
Can I suggest a "cut & paste" formula so that they're all in one place? Could be for convenience or that I'm a lazy b'stard..
ZilchWoolham
I'm not quite sure of what you mean, but if you mean what I think I mean, then absolutely, that's my intention.

Skybone
There's Electro Music in Doncaster, always worth a look, they always used to carry a really varied stock.
Chewie
Watch the prices in Vintage And Rare in Bath......... they're relative to the rent of the place.........!!
FinnDave
Vintage & Modern in Thame sometimes have a bass or two amongst the 6 stringers.
Tonteee
Wouldn't Promenade Music in Morecambe qualify?

Maybe I should make some kind of distinction in the original post between those who stock mostly vintage and those who stock mostly new. Any input on sorting and categorisation is welcomed! Nice chap and very accommodating too.
Burns-bass
Oh, Cotswold Bass Guitars was (is?) a great place to get a reasonably priced vintage Fender. Website seems to be down, but before it went down it had the most incredible 65 LPB Fender Precision, which I wanted but couldn't afford at the time. Is Classic and Cool an Internet-only outlet? The only clue as to where they are physically located is the STD dialling code and that is not a reliable indicator. My suggestion would be to identify any shops that are only accessible on the 'net or that don't have a place where you can go to look at the goods other than by prior arrangement. It's a great topic. Thanks for posting.

I think it's all run by one chap, who's also responsible for the Limelight basses favoured by a lot of folk on this forum. 5 hours ago, Burns-bass said: Oh, Cotswold Bass Guitars was (is?) a great place to get a reasonably priced vintage Fender. Do we have anyone local to the area who can confirm whether they are still operating? 18 hours ago, Chewie said: Watch the prices in Vintage And Rare in Bath......... they're relative to the rent of the place.........!! While some are in general a bit steeper than others, I think it's safe to say that none of the establishments listed here will ever sell their basses for BC prices. But that's shops for you! Kevsy71
Thanks for starting/maintaining this list Zilch! I've browsed (but not bought from) Really Great Guitars - seems to be online only. http://www.reallygreatguitars.com/product-category/really-great-guitars/bass/

Its worth noting that his advertised prices are not what you usually end up paying David likes a good haggle and a robust negotiation. He would be disappointed that he'd not enjoyed himself enough if you left paying the advertised price...
