tarpaiziebass
Hi there, I'm a beginner bass player in a duo. We do all originals. We're based in Bristol, UK. I have a fabulous 5 String Bass Collection Bass, a Santa Ana 4 String Acoustic and a generic 4 String Electric. I find the acoustic frustratingly quiet. I'm going to have to try using a pick with it. charic
I'm sure if you ask around in general discussion some people might have some ideas for getting your acoustic louder Welcome to the forum!
SpondonBassed
Welcome Tarpaiziebass. Mic it up mate. It's a time honoured way of getting your bass in the mix at larger venues so it's good practice for you for when (not if) the duo takes off. Dad3353
Good afternoon, Tarpaiziebass, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
tarpaiziebass
Thanks guys! We're still at the open mic level (apart from the occasional foray into singer songwriter feature nights). We're hoping to ramp it up a bit over the next year or two. We're a bit old for dreams of fame and fortune, but there's still a lot of fun to be had. :-)
Black Coffee
Welcome. Acoustic bass is underrated, good luck with amping it up. Sorry I can't help with advice on it.
tarpaiziebass
Thanks, I've got a peavy wedge foldback that I used to take with me to open mics, but it weighs a ton.
charic
Round here Peavey is practically a unit of weight. How much does your can weigh? Oh you know, about quarter of a Peavey

Oh you know, about quarter of a Peavey There is a collector of Peavey gear here. I forget who for the moment. He's got that much high-density equipment that I fear he may create an embryonic black hole with the accumulated mass. You might find a market for yours second hand. It would allow you wallet space to GAS for a nice lickle barefaced wedge. You might find some pointers in this ancient BC topic;
tarpaiziebass
Thanks, I'll look into that. We're trying not to spend to much on setting up, but it makes life so much easier if you've got the right gear! ;-)
