Happy Jack
+1 I've only ever used Hot Wires on my Status Streamline and I've never yet regretted it.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Status string are great - I use their medium scale flats on my Guild starfire, however the Picato factory that made them for status has closed, and what they have left in stock now is the last of these until they get a new supplier.

I'm sure there are other comparable makes, but you'll not go far wrong with them. Me too - on an old SII. I’m really impressed - they last quite well and there’s a good range of guages. I use very light guage (30-90 mainly). Dabbler, I might have an older set that you’re welcome to if you just want to try them. Drop me a pm and I’ll try to dig them out Edited April 18, 2021 by three Spelling
Musicman666
Thinking of something like an ebs valve drive to warm up a status ...would that be a good fit or is there something better??
TheGreek
Maybe try some Tapewound strings? I'm amazed at the difference fitting them to my 5ers has made. I've had Status tapes on my Silk Bass from Day 1 - didn't realise they were so good till I used them on my 5ers. Have a listen to Scott from 9.30
Musicman666
This is how to end up with a huge bass collection ...each one having a different tuning or set of strings ...
