A Mexican Fender Jazz?

I should start by saying that I'm no expert, and frankly I can't keep track of all the variations of the Jazz bass, but this one seems a bit odd to me. I'm not saying it's a faker, I'd just like to know if this is a genuine Fender Jazz - if it is, I've never seen one like it!

Good point. I just thought at first glance it looked... well, a bit cheap and nasty!
