I purchased the new album by "Sault" yesterday... here's London Gangs. I think it counts as rap.....:

They are one of those 'anonymous' outfits, but I think one of the people behind Sault produced the Little Simz album.

Took me a long time to warm to rap/hip-hop because of all the mentions of Ns and Hs and Bs, which I didn't want to hear in music especially. It wasn't until I started playing the bass that I tuned out the lyrics and focused on the beat.

I prefer the independent non-commercial hip hop.

I can’t stand that either. But as you found out there I’d loads of rap not like that.

I looked this up the other day - Hip Hop is the overall culture (music, fashion etc) and Rap was originally the music. Obviously there is Rap that isn't Hip Hop.
