yorks5stringer Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 (edited) No idea what make this is: was on my Telecaster Bass when I bought it but is not standard. As you can see 2 of the intonation screws have been replaced but it is a good solid bridge if you are looking for functionality rather than pristine looks.... but it is set up only for 'string through' body attachment. Thunderbird Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Looks like a 70s hohner bridge to me mate 1
Dan Dare Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I've got one of those somewhere. Bought it in the late 70s for a project bass. Don't think it was Hohner branded (box long since gone) although they may well have used them. 1
yorks5stringer Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 It was on a 72 Tele Bass but I have no idea when the conversion was made. Re being Hohner, I had a google at 70's Hohners and could not see it on their OEM models.
Thunderbird Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Might be a after market bridge cos my old hohner had one either way it's a good bridge glwts 1

binky_bass Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 It's from a 70's Satellite bass if you really wanted to know! 1
yorks5stringer Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I do want to know.....got a photo please?
binky_bass Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Best thing about that bass was the bridge! Bad bass, good bridge! Way better than needed on these Satellites... (Picture makes the bridge look chrome but it was/is brass!) Suits both string-through-body and normal string basses I believe. 1
yorks5stringer Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 Have to look at mine again then, as unless you can slide the string ball into a groove on the saddle, i cannot see anywhere on the back vertical bit (where the saddle screw heads reside) to thread a string through.....
binky_bass Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 You are right... had a look at another picture and it is indeed only string-through-body. Sold the bass in the picture some time ago, thought it had both options but it is only string-through-body.
Bassassin Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) This design does appear on 1980-ish Korean basses like that Satellite, but before that they were used on high-end MIJ basses from Yamaki Gakki - you'll find them on Wasburns & Daions. The fact it's brass suggests this is from an older MIJ bass, as do the remaining allen key intonation screws. Edited December 21, 2017 by Bassassin 1

I had one of these with the exact same bridge and bass was finished exactly the same too. Shame about the necks. Looked good though and neck through IIRC Edited December 21, 2017 by fleabag
binky_bass Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 It was a neck through indeed, I bough this of a chap from this forum unfortunately it suffered extensive postage damage and arrived with a snapped truss, broken head stock and several other issues... non the fault of the seller! Shame as it was going to be a good project! Though the dark wood is disappointingly just a stain over cheap bass wood. Good bridge though!
Bassassin Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I had one of those Satellites - interestingly mine wasn't string-through and just had a bog-standard BBOT (instead of bogseat saddles). The bass looked cool but weighed about six tons, and the neck was a treetrunk. Maya/El Maya did a lovely neckthgough P type, always had a bit of GAS for one of them.
yorks5stringer Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Well as Drew Pritchard would say, 'We've established some provenance'! Just need all the offers to flood in......
